Associate recruiter Mackenzie Linton at the Lee Group office in Newport News Thursday August 18, 2022.

Mackenzie Linton had a knack for recruiting well before she joined Lee Group Search earlier this summer.

The Eastern Shore native was a student ambassador showing off the programs and campus at Christopher Newport University (CNU). The marketing major also worked her way up to membership director for her sorority, Phi Mu.

Success with both convinced her that recruiting just might be the right career path for her. The Lee Group’s Principal Eric Kean, who leads Lee Group Search, was a mentor of hers at CNU. An internship at the elite staffing and executive recruitment firm led to her current position, Associate Recruiter for Lee Group Search.

“This is such a fun place to work,” she said. “Everyone is so good at what they do, but they still make time to talk with you, ask how you are, and we joke around. I didn’t want to be just another person walking around at a big firm.”

Linton grew up dancing, excelling at ballet, tap, jazz and lyrical. She competed several weekends a month and considered opening her own studio but opted to pursue business at CNU with a dance minor.

“She’s intuitive and good with people,” Kean said. “She’s a good listener and has really picked up things quickly.”

In addition to dance, Linton enjoys the beach and keeping busy by moving, often with walks along the Noland Trail.
